This hand-painted miniature Green Tara thangka painting presents the deity against the light setting of the White Background Edition. The green figure sits on a lotus throne, with a blue utpala flower and a jeweled crown among the details that distinguish the composition. The edition name describes the background and color treatment; the subject is Green Tara.
In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Green Tara is associated with active compassion and the response to suffering. Her extended hand and lotus imagery give the painting its devotional focus. Mountains, flowers and architectural details surround the figure, allowing the eye to move between the central deity and the smaller elements of the scene.
Painted in Lhasa by Lixindi, the miniature uses natural mineral pigments on fine cotton canvas with 24K gold details. Azurite, cinnabar and malachite contribute color to the work, while careful linework defines the crown, robes and surrounding forms. At 4 × 5 cm, the artwork brings this detailed Tibetan composition into a compact format.
The small scale makes this Green Tara painting suitable for a personal altar or a carefully arranged display of Buddhist art. For those choosing the work as a devotional object, a consecration ceremony is available upon request. The light background and green central figure distinguish this edition from the other Tara paintings in the collection.
Each Thangka is a hand-painted narrative of enlightenment. Master artisans grind natural pigments from minerals and plants, then spend months in a meditative process to depict sacred Buddhist subjects, like the compassionate Buddha or intricate mandalas. This is more than decor—it's a tangible piece of Tibetan spiritual heritage, charged with intention and timeless artistry.
Spiritual Activation by Tibetan Masters. Beyond its hand-painted artistry, each Thangka undergoes a final, essential rite: a traditional blessing in a monastery. This sacred process activates the artwork, transforming it from a visual narrative into a dedicated vessel of peace and enlightened energy for your space.
